Frequently asked questions

About KnytX

What does KnytX mean? #
KnytX is pronounced Knight-X. The name comes from cnyht, the Old English spelling of knight before the language simplified it. We kept the original form because we protect what’s original: your name, your address, your data. The name, the shield icon, and the product (Shield) all say the same thing — KnytX stands between you and the threat.
What is KnytX? #
KnytX is a privacy and security platform. Our products protect individuals and businesses from data brokers, identity theft, and credential exposure. Our consulting practice provides penetration testing, hardware security assessment, and ISO 21434 automotive cybersecurity. We’re part of NCRYPTO Labs, a deep-tech company that also designs RISC-V semiconductor IP and builds autonomous systems.
What is KnytX Shield? #
Once live, KnytX Shield scans data broker databases and people-search sites for your personal information, submits removal requests on your behalf, and monitors for re-listing. Think of it as a privacy cleanup crew that works continuously in the background.
When will KnytX Shield be available? #
We’re in active development. Join the waitlist to get early access, early-access pricing, and a free exposure scan before launch.
Does KnytX work worldwide? #
Yes. We cover data brokers across the US, UK, EU (Germany, France, Netherlands, Sweden, Switzerland), India, and Australia. Removal requests are submitted under GDPR, CCPA, UK GDPR, DPDPA, and Swiss FADP. All data stays on our own servers.
What is KnytX Relay? #
An email aliasing service. Generate a unique email address for every site you sign up for. All mail forwards to your real inbox. If a site gets breached or starts spamming, disable that alias instantly. Your real email stays private.
What is KnytX Score? #
A privacy score from 0–100 that quantifies your digital exposure — data broker listings, breach appearances, email privacy practices, and social media oversharing. Free at launch. Track your score as KnytX removes your data and your privacy improves.
What is KnytX Vigil? #
Continuous dark web monitoring. Once live, Vigil scans breach databases, paste sites, and dark web marketplaces for your email addresses, passwords, phone numbers, and financial data. You get alerts with specific fix-it steps — not just ‘your data was found’ but ‘change this password on these three sites.’
What is KnytX for Business? #
Two products, not a bundle. Shield for Teams removes employee data from brokers — per seat, with an admin dashboard. KnytX Trust automates buyer security questionnaires and hosts your public trust page. Buy either alone, or both on one contract.
What is KnytX DNS? #
A private DNS resolver that blocks trackers, ad networks, and malicious domains at the network level — before they load in your browser. Free tier blocks trackers and ads. Premium adds malware blocking, custom blocklists, per-device policies, and analytics. Works on any device by changing one DNS setting. No app needed for basic protection.
How is KnytX DNS different from an ad blocker? #
Browser ad blockers only work in one browser on one device. KnytX DNS works at the network level — it protects every app, every browser, every device on your network, including smart TVs and IoT devices that can’t run ad blockers. It also blocks tracking domains that ad blockers miss, and prevents DNS-level data collection that browser extensions can’t see.
What about cybersecurity consulting? #
KnytX also operates a hands-on security consulting practice: penetration testing (web, mobile, network, hardware), hardware security assessment, ISO 21434 automotive cybersecurity, and incident response. Our parent company designs RISC-V chips, so we assess hardware attack surfaces with depth most software-only firms don’t have.
What's the relationship between KnytX and NCRYPTO? #
KnytX is a division of NCRYPTO Labs Private Limited. Our sister divisions — Stalten (semiconductor IP) and XRTE (autonomous systems) — share engineering infrastructure. The same security engineers who design chip-level countermeasures build the systems that protect your privacy.

Privacy

Does KnytX sell my data? #
Never. Our business model is subscriptions — not advertising, not data brokerage, not surveillance. Your data is worthless to us. Your subscription is everything. If we sold your data, we’d lose every customer and our reputation, so betraying you is simply unprofitable. Read our full Privacy Promise for the details.
How is KnytX different from Meta or Google offering privacy tools? #
Meta and Google each reported over $100B in 2023 revenue, almost all advertising (their own annual reports). When they offer privacy tools, they’re managing a conflict of interest, not solving a problem. KnytX has no advertising business, no data brokerage, and no adtech investors. You pay us to protect you — there’s no conflict.
What if KnytX gets acquired by a data-hungry company? #
Our privacy commitments are written to bind any acquirer as a condition of sale, and we publish annual transparency reports so you can check. Structuring it that way means an acquirer who won’t honor the commitments makes the deal far harder to close.

Plans & Pricing

What's the difference between Basic, Pro, and Executive? #
Basic ($8.99/mo): automated broker removal, scam-call and link shields, 3 emails. Pro ($14.99/mo) adds dark web monitoring, impersonation detection, 10 deepfake checks/month, and 5 emails. Executive ($49.99/mo) adds voiceprint protection, unlimited deepfake checks, concierge takedowns, and 10 emails. Free plan and full grid: pricing page.
How many email addresses can I monitor on each plan? #
Free: 1 email. Basic: 3 emails. Pro: 5 emails. Family: 5 members at up to 5 emails each (25 identities total). Team: 3 emails per employee. Executive: 10 emails. A single CCPA, GDPR, or DPDPA removal request submitted from your KnytX identity covers every email tied to it — you don’t pay per address.
Is the DELETE Act filing really free? What's the catch? #
Yes — free, no card. California’s DELETE Act (SB 362) lets you send one request that ~500 registered brokers must honor. We prepare it; you file it. It doesn’t cover the roughly 400 unregistered people-search sites and scrapers — that’s what paid Shield handles. How it works
Does Family plan let members see each other's breaches? #
No. Each family member has a private breach feed only they can see. The plan owner sees an aggregate family privacy score and scam-call alerts on minors and elderly-mode members, but not the underlying breach details for any other member. A teenager’s account exposure stays hidden from a parent, and a parent’s medical-data leak stays hidden from an adult child.

Features

How does deepfake verification actually work — and what's its accuracy? #
Hybrid analysis: face-artifact detection, voice-splice detection, and metadata checks. The output is a verdict — real / probably real / probably fake / fake — not a confidence percentage, because non-experts can’t act on a 73%. It’s a 90-second second opinion, not a courtroom expert. Pro includes 10 checks/month; Executive is unlimited.
Is my voiceprint stored as raw audio? Where? #
No. The 30-second enrollment sample is converted into a non-reversible mathematical voiceprint, and the raw audio is deleted right after. The voiceprint is encrypted at rest, processed on our own servers, and protected by a BIPA-aligned consent flow you can revoke anytime. You cannot reconstruct a voice from it — and neither can we.

Billing

Can I upgrade or downgrade between tiers mid-cycle? #
Yes. Upgrades are prorated and take effect immediately — you pay the difference for the days remaining in the billing cycle. Downgrades take effect at the next renewal, so you keep the higher-tier features you’ve already paid for. No annual lock-in. Cancellations follow the same 30-day-money-back guarantee that applies at signup.
If I cancel, do my submitted DELETE Act / CCPA requests still apply? #
Yes. Filings stand under the underlying privacy law, independent of your subscription. A CCPA, DELETE Act, GDPR, DPDPA, or UK GDPR request you submitted stays legally binding on the broker after you cancel. We delete your account data within 30 days (not anonymized, deleted). What you lose is ongoing monitoring and re-filing when brokers re-list you.

Business

Team minimum is 10 seats — what about a 4-person startup? #
Below 10 seats, give each person an individual Pro plan ($14.99/mo) — dark web monitoring, impersonation detection, and 5 emails each. The Team tier unlocks at 10 because the admin dashboard, SSO/SCIM provisioning, and compliance reporting only earn their cost at scale. Once you cross 10 employees, your account manager migrates the individual plans onto one Team contract.
What does the Executive concierge actually do? #
Human-assisted takedowns for cases automation can’t close — court-record removals, niche brokers that ignore standard requests, and impersonation needing platform escalation. Executive subscribers get a dedicated channel and a named contact who knows their case. It is not a 24/7 emergency response service or a personal security detail — it’s a specialist who can call a broker’s compliance team.
